Mad Fury: Man sets 5 stepchildren on fire in Ondo

In the Fagun neighborhood of Ondo town, Ondo State, the Ondo State Police Command reported on Sunday that it had detained a man named Ojo Joseph for reportedly setting five of his stepchildren on fire.

According to reports, the 64-year-old suspect’s wife, who is the victims’ mother, had an argument with him before he committed the crime.

According to reports, the wife had the children with a different man before divorcing him and being married to the suspect.

A pair of twins were also born from the marriage to the suspect.

The mother and the other four children suffered various degrees of injuries, while one of the stepchildren perished in the fire. According to reports, they were being treated at the Federal Medical Center, Owo.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, said the suspect was arrested after the matter was reported to the police.

She said, “We have yet to know why the man committed the act but we heard that he had a misunderstanding with his wife. He is currently in our custody and we have begun investigation into the matter. The suspect will be charged after investigation.”
