Major Christopher Datong, who was whisked away on Tuesday by armed bandits at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna has been found dead.

The News of his death circulated on various media platforms yesterday including the Vanguard.

In a daring act, the gunmen had killed two military officers and kidnapped Datong when they attacked Nigeria’s foremost military university on Tuesday.

The murdering bandits shot Lieutenant Commander Wulah and Flight Lieutenant Okoronkwo while Major Datong is still missing.

Recall that The Standard Gazette had reported that unknown gunmen (a term which is somewhat of impression management for terrorists), invaded the permanent site of the institution located along Airport Road, Afaka, in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State around 1.00 am.

Defence headquarters have issued a statement regarding the attack, stating that erring officers will be court marshalled. The terrorists were said to have dressed in military camouflage, beat the guards and headed for the officers’ quarters of the institution.

Incidentally, the military institution is opposite the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Afaka where 39 students were abducted by bandits on March 11, 2021. The bandits demanded N500 million a few days after the abduction.
