Police in Kenya are holding a man alleged to have defiled his two daughters aged 12 and 14.
The 32-year-old man whose name is withheld is said to have committed the act on Sunday night of April 18 in Kisii County, southwestern Kenya.
The incident occurred when the man’s wife was away after being arrested earlier in the day for flouting Covid-19 regulations. She was among those contained in the area for failing to wear face masks.
Confirming the incident, the local authorities said the medical tests indicated the minors had been defiled.
“The children have been taken to the hospital and it has been confirmed that they were defiled. The suspect’s fingerprints have been taken and the man will be arraigned in court as soon as possible,” said the local authorities.
A series of defilement cases have been reported in the county. The police have assured residents that they will bring perpetrators to book to serve as a lesson to others with similar intentions.
The area residents have also been warned against settling any defilement case out of court to enable the government to avert the menace altogether.
