The ongoing killing in Edo State fuelled by rival cultist groups has attracted the action of the Nigerian Police.
Irked by the inter-cult war within the last 72 hours, Edo State police command raided and arrested suspected cultists allegedly linked with the crime.
Standard Gazette gathered that Taiwo Edigie, 40, was killed and beheaded on Horo street, Uselu, Benin City, on 25 August 2022.
Another yet-to-be-identified youth was also shot dead along Imuentiyan street, off Ojo road in Ugbowo.
The police were called to the scene and met the body of Taiwo, and his head was found separate from his body.
The severity of the situation led to the raiding of the group's hideout, leading to the arrest of at least 30 of the suspected cultists.
The 30 suspects were arrested. They were profiled as:

The profiling is still ongoing as the police have intensified arrest processes.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, while commiserating with the bereaved families, assured the good people of Edo State of the Command's unrelenting efforts in ensuring that there is no hiding place for criminals.
The police commissioner specifically warned members of the Eiye group and Aye Cult groups to renege their violent rivalry that has resulted in the avoidable deaths of some young persons.
The owner of the car that was used in the operation that lasted several hours where over two young persons were killed has reacted to how the marauding young attackers snatched her car.
The woman, a staff member of the University of Benin, was attacked along Technical road in Ugbowo, Benin City, and her sienna Car was snatched at gunpoint.
The woman was immediately whisked into the booth of the car around 9 am and was kept till 5 pm.
According to reports, she was in the booth of the car during the killings.
The hoodlums, thereafter, dropped her off and left with the car.
As of press time, the car is not yet found.
A confirmed report revealed that the suspected cultists severed the head of one of their victims. The body was left at Uwasota while the head was taken to a spot around Ugbowo in Benin city.
