Man Shot Dead After Going For A Walk In Benin

A 43-year-old man has been shot dead by some unknown ravaging gunmen in Benin City.

The deceased identified as Nosa Omorodion was killed on Wednesday at around 07:00 pm by some yet to be identified gunmen at 3rd Imasabemwen Lane, Off Ekewan road in Benin City, Edo State.

Standard Gazette gathered that the late Nosa Omorodion left his house for a walk in the neighbourhood but ran into some gunmen who were operating in the area.

He was shot in the head and stomach and some good Nigerians quickly rushed him to the nearest Hospital.

The report said he was later referred to the University Of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) where he finally had his last breath on earth.

Some residents who spoke to Standard Gazette described the late Nosa Omorodion as a gentleman who was innocently killed.

They said he is not in any secret cult as he must have been mistaken for someone else.

The people said the wife of the deceased has just recently given birth to a baby boy.

The wife of the deceased said she told the husband that Dinner was ready but he quickly excused himself, saying he wanted to drop a message in the neighbourhood.

The woman stated that she later got a phone call that, her husband had been shot dead by some persons.

She appealed to the police to help unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of her husband and bring the perpetrators to justice.

She lamented that the late Nosa Omorodion is the breadwinner of the family and wondered why such a young promising person was killed.

The woman who narrates her ordeal in tears said, the heartless gunmen have now made her a widow.

The body of the victim is currently deposited in the mortuary at the Univerity of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Standard Gazette learned.
