A drama ensued in Mombasa Law Courts, Kenya’s Coast, on Monday after a suspect attacked a police officer before escaping via the fence.
Ngalaa Hassan, a robbery with violence suspect, was re-arrested and presented to the court for boycotting court sessions.
The judge revoked Hassan’s bail, and immediately after the verdict was delivered, he asked for permission to visit the washrooms for a call of nature. A police officer escorted and allowed him to proceed to the facility uncuffed.
The accused shortly stormed out of the washroom, pushed to the ground the officer waiting for him before jumping over the court’s fence and disappeared.
The officer’s attempt to raise the alarm and fire at the suspect was futile.
The search for the suspect has kicked off.©Standard Gazette, 2021.
