Michael Jackson was sentenced to three months in prison by the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, for internet fraud.

Jackson, who was detained on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, disguised as Ella Ellywood, a transgender woman, to defraud victims of millions of Naira, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The Commission stated in its statement, “The suspect, who also claimed to be a Disc Jockey, had in his possession fetish items, which he claimed was “for grace and success."

On March 21, 2022, Justice Ringim sentenced the defendant to three months in prison after arraigning him on a one-count accusation of impersonation in violation of and punishable under Section 22(2)(b) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, ETC) Act 2015. He admitted to the crime and entered a guilty plea.
