Middle-Aged Man Shot Dead In Benin

A middle-aged man has been allegedly shot dead in Benin city, Edo state Nigeria.

The incident happened in a house at Mechanic Road, Ogida quarters in Benin city.

The deceased Ighodaro Edigin Osahon met his untimely death in his residence.

According to the report, the gunmen who arrived at his house at about 5:15 PM met the man where he was relaxing with his immediate family members.

He was said to have been shot dead on the spot.

The situation led to an outrage in the village of the deceased, Iguoshodin Nebudin near Benin city where the people raised alarm over previous disagreements with some persons in the locality.

Family members and friends of the deceased described him as a dedicated Christian who lived his life for God.

They, however, called on the police to thoroughly investigate the incident and bring all those fingered in the killing to justice.

The elder brother of the deceased, Pastor Sunday Osahon said the family members are still in shock over the killing of one of the breadwinners in the family.

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone five Police headquarters, Benin City, ASP Tijani Momoh confirmed the incident and added that, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder.

ASP Tijani Momoh said the Police has ordered for an autopsy to be conducted on the deceased immediately.

He further said the case files of the two arrested suspects have been sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions(DPP) for legal advice.

The body of the slain middle-aged man has since been deposited in the mortuary for further investigation.
