A middle-aged woman was on Sunday morning abducted by some unknown gunmen at the vegetable market, off Airport Road in Benin City.
The residents and traders in the area expressed shock, describing the incident as movie-like
Some traders who spoke on condition of anonymity said traders and some police officers who were at the scene of the incident took to their heels when the abductors fired some bullets into the air.

They said the men who stormed the market in a commando style, armed with sophisticated weapons, blocked the vehicle of the said victim who was about leaving the scene.
They said the woman tried to escape but was given a hot chase and was caught and whisked away.
“We saw some able-bodied men storm the vegetable market and all of us started running for our dear life while the men armed with big guns took their victim away after they caught her when she tried to escape”
When contacted, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said the Commissioner of Police has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident.
“Yes, we got wind of the kidnap, and as I speak now the Commissioner of police has ordered the anti kidnapping unit to get those behind the dastardly act”.
Details on the identity of the abducted woman and her mission at the vegetable market were still sketchy as of the time of this report.
