Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, has resigned following allegations of certificate forgery that have bedevilled him in the past few days.
The former minister was embroiled in the scandal over his presentation of a Degree Certificate he claimed to have obtained from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, but the school has denied issuing the certificate.
The minister tendered his resignation after a brief meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House.
In a statement issued by the Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology.
Nnaji was appointed as minister in August 2023.
He resigned today in a letter thanking the President for allowing him to serve Nigeria.
Nnaji said he has been a target of blackmail by political opponents.
