On Friday, the Court of Appeal in Akure, Ondo State, overturned the Ondo State High Court's decision and freed Prophet Babatunde Alfa, the founder of the Sotitobire Praising Chapel.

Prophet Sotitobire

Alfa Babatunde Sotitobire was sentenced to life in prison in 2019 for the abduction of a one-year-old boy named Gold Kolawole from his church.

The founder of Sotitobire had sought the appellate court to overturn his life sentence conviction.

The court found that the High Court's circumstantial evidence was insufficient to convict him.

Alfa was later dismissed and acquitted by Justice Gamma Barka, who read the judgment on behalf of the other judges.
