Mob Murdered A 55-year-old Man, Burnt Down His House In Urhonigbe, Edo State

A 55 Year year man has been allegedly murdered in Ehen Quarters in URHONIGBE, Orhionmwon local government area of Edo state by some identified persons.

The house of the deceased was completely burnt down by the irate persons.

Standard Gazette gathered that the deceased Mr Enoragbon Imuetinyan was alleged to have engaged in a financial disagreement with Festus Omorogbe Okala.

It was revealed that the Said Omorogbe Okala stood as a surety to one Edoghogho Otasowie who borrowed money from an association led by the deceased Mr Enoragbon Imuetinyan.

The said Otasowie was unable to pay the money in full since 2017, a situation which made the leadership of the association engaged the guarantor for a refund.

Lately, the son of the guarantor took ill.

The guarantor, Festus Omorogbe Okala met the now deceased in his house and threaten to kill him if his son dies.

The said deceased thereafter wrote a petition to the Commissioner of police for protection.

But as the police were treating the petition of a threat to life, the guarantor’s son died.

Irked with the death of his son, the said man Festus Omorogbe Okala who is now at large allegedly mobilised some persons to attack the now deceased in his house in Ehen quarters, URHONIGBE in Edo state.

The hoodlums stormed the house around 3 pm.

It was revealed that several gunshots were fired into the man but there was no penetration.

They then allegedly tied him in a moving vehicle and dragged him on the floor till he died.

His mutilated body was then dumped in a flooded pit in the area.

The hoodlums were then alleged to have immediately returned and destroyed every property in the house before setting it ablaze.

The children of the deceased and his elder brother are now calling for justice for their late father.

They called on the police to arrest all those fingered in the murder and arson.

Contacted, the Edo state Police Public Relations Officer SP CHIDI NWABUZOR said the matter is now with the homicide department of the Edo state police command in Benin city for Investigation.
