The family of a girl, Cili Profit Enoh, who was allegedly murdered by his lover in Benin City, has called on relevant authorities to ensure justice as some persons are allegedly attempting to sweep the matter under the carpet under the guise that the suspects have mental problems.
The murder occurred at Sawmill Road Upper Ekewan Road area after Asoro Hill was reported to the Evbuotubu police station and the alleged murderer was arrested.
Narrating his ordeal, the father of the victim, Mr Profit Alabo Enoh, told The Standard Gazette that the girl, some years back, travelled to the University of Benin for her post-UME, where she met the alleged lover identified as Napheletus.
He said her daughter disappeared for a long time but returned as a pregnant woman.
Mr Enoh said since the issue continued between his late daughter and the lover, she begged for forgiveness after giving birth to a girl who is three years old now.
He explained that after several years, he was shocked to receive a distress call from neighbours that the daughter had been killed, which made him travel from Bayelsa State in company with his friend to the house of the lover, only to discover the lifeless body of his child.
His friend Mr Osaigbovo Uwangue, who corroborated Mr Enoh’s statement, said they are calling on the Edo state government, especially the wife of the state governor, to come to their rescue so that justice will prevail.
The Image Maker, Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, while confirming the murder, says the issue is being investigated as the suspects will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
He said the command won’t leave any stone unturned since it has been confirmed that the alleged killer strangled the lover after an argument.
