Nigerians have continued to narrate their experiences at the London office of the High Commission. A Nigerian based in the UK, Florence Adebowale wrote on social media to narrate her experience.
“I was able to complete and obtain my emergency travel certificate (ETC) within 15 minutes. I was very impressed with the speediness and professionalism of the staff and how my application was promptly processed. I would like to commend everyone at the Nigerian Embassy for providing such a great service. President Buhari, Dr. Geofrrey Onyeama and high commissioner, God will bless you more.
She stated that she didn’t have to call the embassy before going even as she listed the requirements for quick emergency passport;

“Please be sure you arrive between 10 am and 4pm, the service to issue the emergency travel certificate (ETC) takes only 15 minutes.
“Passport renewals in UK will start after the covid-19 restriction is lifted, the staff informed me that over 17,000 applications are pending because of covid lockdown. They would process 300 per day on a 1st come, 1st served basis after covid restrictions,” she concluded.
Professor Rotimi Jaiyesinmi, a medical practitioner also based in the UK, corroborated Adebowale’s experience, “I attended for an Emergency Travel Certificate on 29 March 2021. My experience was similar. We were all treated with respect by the two Embassy staff that attended to us. Courteous and professional. Service was prompt.
One might say they were doing their duty. I say they did their duty effectively,” he concluded.
