CP Abutu Yaro - New Commissioner of Police in Edo State

A new commissioner of Police has assumed duty in Edo state.

He is CP Abutu Yaro.

He took over from Philip Ogbadu, who has since retired from the police force.

The new Edo State Commissioner of Police was received on Monday, 11th April 2022, by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, DCP Miller Dantawaiye, who was in charge of the command since 7th March 2022 when Philip Ogbadu retired from the Force.

Addressing Newsmen in Benin city, CP Abutu Yaro said he is in Edo state to combat criminal activities as it will not be business as usual.

He called on various tactical and strike forces of the Edo State police command to rise to the challenges ahead in nipping criminal elements in the bud.

He appealed to the people of Edo state to render useful information to the Police aimed at checking the activities of criminals.

He said he has since keyed into the security on the ground and urged the Police to ensure they work to ensure the people of Edo State sleep with their two eyes closed.

Until his posting to Edo state, CP Abutu Yaro was the CP Force Provost Marshal, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He joined the Nigeria Police force in 1988 as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

He was Assistant Commissioner of Police in Zamfara and Imo state police commands.
