New Year Tragedy: Bus Driver Shot Dead In Benin [GORY PICTURE]

A commercial bus operator popularly called Tuke-Tuke Driver has been killed in Benin city, Edo state by unknown gunmen.

The incident happened along Siluko road near Oliha market in Benin City, Edo state Nigeria.

Standard Gazette gathered that the driver who is yet to be identified plies Sapele road route in Benin City.

The unknown assailants entered the bus from Kings Square in Benin city and diverted the driver to Siluko road at gunpoint, Standard Gazette learned.

Immediately they passed the former Ovator Cinema house at Siluko road, the hoodlums used a battle axe on him before he was finally shot dead.

Some eyewitnesses who were returning from the New Year cross over service told Standard Gazette correspondent that they saw the commercial bus with a full headlight on and some persons were dragging the steering with the driver.

They said, they suddenly heard gunshots which scared most of them.

A moment after, some young boys came out and entered another vehicle and fled the scene.

On a closer look, they saw a young man already dead with bloodstains all over his body.

The deceased was still seating on the driver’s seat with his head completely damaged.

As at press time, 10:23 am on 1st January 2021, the lifeless body was still inside the bus as TSG reporter called the control room of the Edo state police command in Benin city for a possible evacuation to the mortuary.

The killing may be connected to the renewed ongoing gang clash in Benin City Edo state which has claimed many lives.
