After months of closure, the Nigerian High Commission in Canada is ready to resume operations on Thursday, 24 September.
The embassy was closed in August due to the Coronavirus pandemic and huge passport renewal applications by Nigerians in the country.
The embassy, according to an online news portal, Premium Times, one of the reasons the embassy closed in August was that many Nigerians showed at the chancery uninvited.

A few days before the closure, the embassy accused some citizens of assaulting one of its staff.
According to an earlier report, many Nigerians residing in different parts of the country had applied for the renewal of their passports for a couple of reasons, ranging from extending their work permits, study visas or seeking medical care abroad.
The people grumbled because they paid for new passports and renewal only to meet a gridlock at the embassy’s only office in Ottawa, Canada.
The applicants also accused the embassy of poor communication and terrible service delivery.
In a statement released via its official website on Wednesday, the mission would resume immigration and consular service today, Thursday 24 September.
Applicants of passport renewal arrangement are instructed to email PASSPORTSCHEDULING@NIGERIAHCOTTAWA.CA to schedule an interview date after filling out the forms and met the online requirements for passport process.
“Please do not send more than one email to request for an appointment,” it cautioned.
“Also, each request sent in for an appointment must state the full name of the passport applicant as it appears on the Nigerian passport,” the commission advised.
“In a situation where you are requesting for an interview date on behalf of an applicant, kindly state the full name of the applicant. For family scheduling please indicate all family members that require renewal as you will not be recognised as one unit. Each member of the family will need to be given an appointment.
“Upon arrival, all applicants must come with printed copies of their passport interview invitations, these must be presented to the security officials before entry into the chancery.”
According to the new announcement, the hours for a passport renewal are 09.30 to 12.30, with a warning that anyone who shows late would not be seen ‘even if such a person has an appointment.’
The chancery is also taking measures by adopting the basic COVID-19 restrictions. Applicants must “sanitise their hands, wear face masks and practice social distancing”, the statement reads.
The embassy also warned that anyone who shows up without a printed invitation for an interview would not be seen.
