The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has said that he will introduce traditional reforms aimed at curbing abuse of conferment chieftaincy titles in the Edo South Senatorial District.

Oba Ewuare who disclosed this at the weekend during the one-year coronation anniversary in Benin, said conferment of chieftaincy titles must be in accordance with native laws, tradition and customs of the land.
Oba Ewuare commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for acceding to his request that Community Development Association (CDA) activities be criminalised in the state, saying the new law had brought sanity to property management in the state.
Also speaking, Godwin Obaseki, said the relationship between the state government and the Benin Monarch, in the last one year, had improved the quality of life in the state.
According to him, the collaboration resulted in the state government’s new law which outlawed the activities of Community Development Associations (CDAs) as well as the development of the Gelegele Seaport.
