Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, has come under fire for declaring that Peter Obi's followers will lose interest in their efforts to elect him president in 2023.
After Obaseki predicted that their support would soon wane, the Obidients, as the supporters are affectionately known, took to Twitter.
The governor made the proclamation on Monday during the state's inauguration of the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party's Campaign Council.
"People who claim to be Obidients will, of course, be, but they will lose interest, he said. How many people have been able to do what we are doing? We know how to run elections. Even their campaign council cannot be formed by them."
Commenters online aren't taking it lightly with Obaseki's statement on the Obidient movement.
@Princeeze for instance wrote, "It’s like this man has been lashed for having stylishly supported Obidient in the past? But regardless, our labour will never be in vain. It’s you, the entire PDP and APC that your efforts will be in vain. Obi shall triumph and be declared a winner come 2023 God willing!”
