Obi Cubana beats Makinde, Elumelu to win award

Popular Lagos Socialite and business mogul Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has clinched the 2021 Man of the Year award.

Cubana, who became popular after the famous mother's burial, defeated Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Mr Tony Elumelu, Chairman UBA Group and Mr Abdul Rabiu, Chairman and founder of BUA Group, to clinch the award.

Obi Cubana, the CEO of the Cubana Group, was voted by Nigerians at home and in the diaspora via online platforms in a 14-day Leadership Excellence Awards.

He emerged winner with 2,667,845 votes, while Makinde, Elumelu and Rabiu had 1,015,224, 848,652 and 819,562 votes respectively.

Obi Cubana hails from Oba, a community in Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra. He is also known to be a philanthropist. After his mother's burial, he empowered 300 youths engaged in business with N1m each.
