Olayiwola Afolabi Esq Honours Crime Reporter, Festus Alenkhe in Benin

BENIN CITY - A Benin based legal practitioner and Chairman of Signature Law firm, Olayiwola Afolabi Esq. has organised a civic reception to formally honour Mr Festus Alenkhe, an ace crime reporter with Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) Benin city, Edo state.

Afolabi said the honour was his own way of appreciating Alenkhe, the host of "Crime Watch," a crime focussed programme on Edo Broadcasting service because the programme changes lives.

According to him, "I came from a part of the world that we honour personalities, and when you are doing well, we honour you."

He said that Alenkhe has, through Crime Watch, not only projected Edos beyond Edo State, but the lessons learnt have also saved lives.

He prayed to God to endow Alenkhe with more knowledge and strength to sustain the programme.

Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association, Edo State branch, Pius Oiwoh Esq, in his remarks, said that Alenkhe, through Crime Watch, has been able to carve a niche for himself.

According to him, the name Alenkhe is a household name that would endure many generations.

He described Alenkhe as a man with an excellent spirit in the crime reportage.

Responding, Alenkhe thanked Afolabi for the honour done him.

He also thanked EBS for providing him with a platform to distinguish himself.

According to him, a higher responsibility would provide him with a better platform to do more in crime reportage.

Also, the Junior Chambers International (JCI), Edo Bronze, has bestowed the award of "Personality of the Month of September" on Mr Festus Alenkhe.

In her remarks at the event held in Benin City, President of JCI, Edo Bronze, Eson Blessing, said that the choice was informed by his achievements in various endeavours, including multiple positions, where he held a leadership position.

He listed such endeavours to include Edo State Chairman of the Nigeria Red Cross Society and state Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria.

According to her, the choice of Alenkhe was widely embraced by members of the Junior Chamber international, charging him not to rest on his oars even as he marched on to greater heights.

"When we (JCI) were discussing during our last general assembly on who to be our next personality of the month, we had so many listed names, and some persons made a statement when Festus Alenkhe's name was mentioned.

"They said this man cuts across all aspects of JCI that we want to look into, and he is fit enough to be the personality of the month of September."

Members of JCI in attendance eulogised Alenkhe and urged him to sustain the character that earned him the recognition.

Responding, Comrade Alenkhe thanked the JCI for the award, which he said would spur him to more commitment in whatever he does.

He said that his achievements were made possible because of his belief in impacting positively on humanity.

Festus Alenkhe is a former Chairman of Nigeria Red Cross Society and the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State Council.

The Controller News, Alenkhe's investigation task has taken him to several countries, including Austra, Italy, Spain, France, UAE and the United States of America, where he did a special report on the assassination of a former US President, John F Kennedy, after visiting Dallas and Texas where he was assassinated.

Festus Alenkhe, who holds a diploma certificate in Broadcast journalism, also has a Bachelor's degree in international studies and diplomacy from the University of Benin and a post-graduate diploma in Journalism from the international institute of journalism iij Abuja.
