Armed men had early hours of Monday invaded an off-campus Students’ hostel at Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida in Lapai, Niger State, killing one student and looting the student’s belongings.
The incident occurred between midnight and 2 am, with perpetrators going room-to-room, stealing laptops, phones, cash, jewellery, and clothes, and tragically killing one student during the raid.
Following the attack, angry students and residents took to the streets in protest, demanding stronger security measures, though police have begun investigations into the incident.
The students took the demonstration to the Vice Chancellor’s office and proceeded to the Emir’s palace to register their displeasure over incessant attack on them by men of the underworld.
This attack has brought uncountable numbers of robbery incidents on university campuses across the country, causing parents to rent accommodation in the residential quarters for their kids.
