Save Nigeria Group, an Edo State based Civil Society has finally responded to the attack on one of its members, and President, Mr. Blessing Agbomhere.
Agbomhere was attacked by a group of thugs allegedly loyal to the deputy governor, Mr. Philip Shuaibu, as he landed at Benin airport from Abuja.

Blessing Agbomhere will continue to say the truth no matter whose horse is gored. He was born into the humble family of a father who was a driver and a businessman with a mother who was a farmer, a cook and a trader. Integrity, truth and simplicity were their valued assets. He has been mounded into a man who should be bold enough to say and tell the truth at all times, even if it is wrong to say it.
With this background, He choose to be a journalist. In fulfillment of this choice he graduated with a Diploma in Journalism, Higher Diploma in Journalism and a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations and Advertising.
By this choice, exposure and orientation, he should be able to say the truth, and stand by it.
More importantly, at this critical point of our nationhood, all citizens of our great nation should be able to say the truth and stand by it for the health, safety and development of our beloved country, Nigeria.
As Muslims and Christians, we must love the truth the way we love God because God is the Truth. And as leaders we must also learn to accept the truth, repent if we are on the wrong path and be on the path of truth for societal good.
Our worries. Adams Oshiomhole had proclaimed himself a man of truth and advocate of the oppressed. What has happened to Adams? Who has done this to him? How has he turned against the same oppressed and became the oppressor and tormentor of the already oppressed who he claimed he joined politics to redeem? It is a shame Adams Oshiomhole has become a contradiction of what he had preached to Nigerians.
We may not have problems with Philip Shuaibu as he has never represented anything more than controversy, thuggery, forgery, fraud and lies all in his desperation to be relevant.
A man who can fight a police officer on uniform in his polling unit during the last governorship election will never have value for even the office he occupies.
As president of one of the three factions of NANS he had no history of any laudable struggle that benefited the students. While Wale B and Hembe’s factions were engaging the Nation and fighting for rusticated students to be reinstated to their schools, Shuaibu’s faction was only known in Edo and a few neighboring states for courtesy calls and paid solidarity visits.
Everyone knows that Philip Shuaibu is a nitwit, an academic inferior, a mediocre, a naive lilliputian with inferiority complex, a native-intelligent imbecile and a sadist who cannot afford to see smiling faces and joyous hearts. Looking into the eyes of Philip anyone can tell he resembles a demon looking for whom to destroy as he does not like and cannot stand intelligent, progressive and successful people. Shuaibu is possessed with luciferous spirit, as he is full of hatred and jealousy, the same attitudes that destroyed Lucifer.
Ogie’s story is a pitiful one, as he doesn’t have any ideology or direction except the one that leads to the swines, where stray pigs are fed and used.
It is a pity that the only way Adams Oshiomhole, Philip Shuaibu and Osarodion Ogie can reply the questions so many Nigerians have raised is to attack Blessing Agbomhere physically with their paid mercenaries rather than giving answers to the questions of; how he has betrayed everyone who has helped him, how he uses people to achieve his ambition only to dump them, how they expended the 54 Million Dollars they received from Former President Jonathan before the 2015 General Election, how they expended 150 Million Dollars World Bank Loan they took on behalf of Edo people, how they have squandered over 3 Trillion Naira Edo Money and resources, why they deceived President Buhari into commissioning an empty building called the Benin 5 Star Hospital, how Oshiomhole alone spent about 2Billion on chartered flights and how a leader of the masses built a 10 Billion Naira Mansion in Iyamo, another 8 Billion Naira Mansion with an Helipad in Benin and another mansion on Danube Street Maitama Abuja at the expense of poor Edo tax payers.
With all these ‘opulence of a comrade’, how will patriotic and reasonable leaders like President Muhammad Buhari, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, APC Governors and Nigerians trust Oshiomhole for any ‘national assignment’ when he is being accused of betraying public trust, thuggery and monumental fraud in Edo State.
Is attack on the person of Blessing Agbomhere the answers to these questions? The answer to these questions is for Adams Oshiomhole to give a true account of his stewardship to Edo people and ask the forgiveness of all those he has betrayed. Philip Shuaibu must take a leaf from Adams’ situation and current frustration. Government Immunity should not be taken as a license for impunity.
When you find yourself in a public office which is not permanent, your deeds will be a plate on your hands with which everyone will serve you. If Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, President Buhari, Tony Anenih, Mike Oghiadomhe and Lucky Igbinedion had done what Oshiomhole and Shuaibu are doing to Edo people, Oshiomhole might have been a prisoner with leptospirosis while Shuaibu would have been a yahoo-yahoo eating from people like Kadiri Uloko, whose yard along Abuja Kubwa Expressway was housing Philip Shuaibu, with both having no opportunity to becoming what they have become today.
The attack, kidnap and attempted murder directed at Blessing Agbomhere by Adams Oshiomhole, Philip Shuaibu, and Osarodion Ogie have been perpetrated before it was exhibited at the Benin Airport. The attack and kidnap is not just on Blessing Agbomhere but on the image of Edo State and her people.
It is an attack on the airport authority of Nigeria. It is an attack on democracy and the image of the government of Nigeria. Adams Oshiomhole, the son, Cyril Oshiomhole, Victor Oshioke, Johnson Oghumah, Andrew Momodu, Philip Shuaibu have threatened Blessing’s life differently and at intervals this year for running for the House of Representatives Primaries under the APC after he had lost the Governorship ticket to Godwin Obaseki.
Their threat was to deter him from contesting in Court the process of the House of Representatives Primaries which was marred with irregularities as a plan to rig him out in favour of Oshiomhole’s anointed aspirant. He kept his focus on reclaiming his mandate in court while promoting good governance. Oshiomhole and Shuaibu are angry that Blessing Agbomhere on AIT’s Programme, People, Politics and Power defended President Muhammadu Buhari for commissioning an arm of Benin Central Hospital which is still yet to be opened, stating that questions on why the hospital is not functioning after it was commissioned should be directed at Oshiomhole and not Mr President.
Later, they claimed he is using his influence as Deputy Director of Buhari Support Organizations(BSO) to prevent Adams Oshiomhole from becoming the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria.
On the Benin Airport Attack, Blessing Agbomhere narrated what happened, this: ”On Monday 8th of May on my way to Benin, I met Philip Shuaibu, Edo’s deputy governor at the airport. While waiting for the arrival of Air Peace flight to Benin, the attendant at the VIP/Protocol Lounge at the local wing of the AAIA approached my friend and I that she has been directed by Edo Deputy Governor to ask us to leave the VIP Lounge.
“We argued we had right to seat at the VIP as we were meant to pay for seating and moreover, my friend who was in my company was an MON. After which we boarded the plane to Benin. On our arrival in Benin, we were right behind the Deputy Governor after alighting from the plane. As we approaching the protocol wing of the Benin Airport, I heard him instructing his aides and government house securities who came to receive him that Blessing should not be allowed to use the protocol wing.
“I pleaded with my friend who was insisting to use the protocol wing as he was entitled, to allow us use the passenger exit which he obliged. As we were coming out of the passenger exit, thugs and mercenaries numbering about 30 attacked us, kidnapped me and was dragging me into a waiting vehicle before the intervention of Delta State Police Commissioner who flew with us into Benin on the same plane in company of his aides rescued me from these kidnapers.
“With the support of the Police Commissioner’s aides and airport security, three of the kidnappers were arrested while others escaped along the convoy of the deputy governor whose escort forced the airport exit gate open after it was locked by the airport security to ensure the arrest of the kidnapers. Right there the Delta Police Commissioner put a call across to Edo Police Commissioner who insisted we must be brought to his office immediately.
“Arriving his office with the three arrested kidnapers, we were joined by Chief of Staff to Edo Deputy Governor and other staff of Edo Government House who came to take the kidnapers on bail. While still in the Police Commissioner’s office I narrated what happened. While interrogating the suspects, one of them confessed that it was one comrade Shaba who led them to the airport to welcome the deputy governor of Edo State before they were directed to attack me.
“The Commissioner of Police gave me all assurances that he will do justice to the matter haven realized the attack and kidnap was sponsored by Edo’s Deputy Governor, and we were referred to the Police Hospital for medical checkup.
In his words, he said, ”Mr Blessing, this is not Edo police but the Nigeria Police. I will ensure justice is served in this matter”.
“As we were still in the hospital taking treatment, we heard the office of the deputy governor instructed the police commissioner to release the kidnapers. Later, to my greatest bewilderment, the same Edo Commissioner of Police who was briefed by his colleague in Delta State who witnessed the attack conspired with Adams Oshiomhole, Philip Shuaibu and Osarodion Ogie to assassinate me.
And as we speak, they are after my life”, Blessing Agbomhere said.
In all of these, it is Godwin Obaseki’s administration that is being put in jeopardy. He must caution Oshiomhole, Shuaibu and Ogie. Without him finding the courage to tame these men, Edo is in real danger.
Is this what Edo has turned into? Is this what Nigeria has become? Is this what Adams Oshiomhole and Philip Shuaibu has turned the APC, our change and the Buhari Administration into? Edo people and Nigerians may be quiet because it is the life of Blessing Agbomhere that Oshiomhole, Shuaibu and Ogie are after right now.
“A threat to life anywhere in Nigeria is a treat to life everywhere in Nigeria. They may start with Blessing Agbomhere here, you there and if they remain unchecked, they may end up kidnapping and killing a president someday.”
