The Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Kadafur says his people doubt the existence and presence of COVID-19 in the state.
Kadafur is the Chairman of the state response team for the prevention and control of COVID-19.
The deputy governor likened the spread of COVID-19 pandemic to the same doubt people had when Boko Haram terrorists infiltrated the country.

He said the people disobey measures: Social distancing, large gathering and observing congregational prayers despite the reported spread of the virus.
“When Boko Haram started, a lot of people felt it was something not to be taken seriously, until when it consumed everybody.
This COVID-19 is another Boko Haram coming, and yet people don’t believe it’s real,” a statement quoted Kadafur to have said.
“I keep saying it’s real. As a response team, we’ll continue telling the general public and reaching out with advocacy.”
Borno state currently has 11 deaths after recording a total of 75 confirmed cases, 16 of which are health workers.
Kadafur appealed to the public to be mindful of the danger posed by the pandemic, adding that his committee will continue to work tirelessly to prevent the spread.
