Oyo House of Rep Member Olajide Shares Goats As Empowerment To Women

A member of the House of Representatives from Ibadan Northwest/Southwest Federal Constituency, Stanley Olajide, at the weekend empowered 300 women in his constituency comprising widows and aged and vulnerable women.

The former US-based lawmaker said he carried out the empowerment programme based on the popular demand of his people.

Hon Olajide also known as ‘Odidiomo’ stated that the project will help the beneficiaries to be financially stable as the goats are special breeds.

The opinion among many other this sort of empowerment will differ.

However, according to Gbolahan Oladimeji a public commentator, he opined, “If you ask him, he will have a valid reason. If someone can have cows and becomes rich without any input, why can’t a goat farmer be? You’ll be surprised what the goat will bring in a year. I’m planning to have them in my backyard soon. They breed 3-4 times a year.”

Given the budgetary allocation of Rep members annually especially on constituency allowance, many still believe the masses are being shortchanged in the showbiz empowerment schemes that require canopies, DJs, and cameramen and newsmen.
