Edo Police Have Arrested Suspected Gun Runners.
The suspects were arrested on 1 December 2021 at about 6pm.
They were arrested during a stop and search operation along Benin-Lagos Express Road.
The police flagged down one black Highlander SUV with Reg. No. LSD 748 CK, driven by one Abraham Usifoh.
160 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition and 100 rounds of live Baretta pistol ammunition were found in the car during a search.
The suspect was immediately arrested and detained in Ohosu Divisional Police Headquarters in Edo state’s Ovia North-East local government area.
The suspects will be transferred to the State CriminalInvestigation Department (SCID) for a discrete investigation to unravel the source of the ammunition.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Philip Aliyu Ogbadu, reinstated his commitment to a crime-free Edo State as he assured the indigenes and residents of Edo State that the command would continue to do its best to check the activities of criminals in Edo state.
