The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old man for the alleged murder of his 15-year-old son and for secretly burying the body within their family compound in Uhe Community, Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
In a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, police operatives, acting on credible intelligence and led by the Divisional Police Officer, proceeded to the scene on December 6, 2025, where the report was confirmed.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly assaulted his son with a stick on Friday, December 5, 2025, at about 7:00 p.m., resulting in the boy’s death. The suspect then reportedly dug a grave within the compound and buried the body in an attempt to conceal the crime.
The deceased’s 82-year-old grandmother, who is also the suspect’s mother and resides in the same house, provided key information that assisted the police investigation.
Following proper procedures, the grave was exhumed, photographs were taken, and the stick believed to have been used in the assault was recovered as evidence.
The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, has directed that the case be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
