Two armed robbery suspects that take delight in attacking and robbing only operators of POINT OF SALES SHOPS in Benin City, Edo state have been brought down by men of the Edo state Police command.
The suspects were smashed at Ikhueniro near the Benin Bypass on Agbor road in Benin city, Edo state.
Standard Gazette gathered that the two alleged armed men identified as Ernest Osamudiamen Odiase and Lucky Andrew had stormed a Point Of Sales Shop at Ikhueniro where they robbed the female operator and all her customers.
They were said to have first arrived at the local financial business shop and pretended to be genuine customers.
A moment later, they immediately brought out a locally made cut to size gun and pointed it at the woman to bring out all her money.
They successfully robbed the woman of the sum of N350,000 (Three Hundred And Fifty Thousand Naira) and also collected her mobile phones and the POS machine.
Other customers who were in the woman’s shop were not spared as they were all successfully robbed.
But while the robbery operation was going on, some residents in the area were brave enough to directly confront them.
As the confrontation was ongoing, a police patrol team drawn from men of the Anti Kidnapping Squad of the Edo state police command were close by.
Their quick arrival paid off as the two suspects were arrested on the spot.
Further reports revealed that the suspects opened fire on one of the residents who is now receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Benin city.
The two suspects were immediately transferred to the Edo state police command headquarters in Benin City for further investigation.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo who confirmed the incident said one of the suspects escape from the scene adding that the escapee suspect has been identified.
He assured that the police will continue to carry out onslaught on criminal activities in Edo state.
CP Kokumo called for adequate collaboration from members of the public aimed at checking the activities of criminals.
Items recovered from the suspects include one locally made cut to size gun, One P.O.S machine and mobile phones.
