Police have arrested two suspects involved in several offenses in Edo State.
Amos Abieyuwa, 28, and Ochuko Newman, 24, were arrested on Tuesday, 11 October, around 10 pm in Benin City.
The duo was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and land grabbing in the Ulegun community in Ikpoba Okha local government of Edo State.
They were also arrested on suspicion of cultism, arson, murder, gun-running, land-grabbing, promoting communal war, and waging war against the Edo State Government at Oke-Oroma, Obazagbon, and Obagie communities of Edo State.
Police said the suspects confessed to the crimes in a statement.
Ochuko allegedly confessed that Amos was in possession and control of two AK-47 rifles as part of the guns they reportedly used in their operations.
According to a police statement, Amos, on the other hand, confessed (allegedly), affirming the confession of his accomplice.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, gave a directive to the police operative to go all out and arrest the fleeing suspects and bring them to book.
CP Abutu Yaro warned all other persons into Violent Landgrabbing, assassination, and Marine Kidnapping to renege their trade or leave Edo State for good.
