Police Kill two suspected kidnappers in their hideout in Edo

Two men have been allegedly shot dead by the Anti-kidnapping and cybercrime unit of the police and local vigilante members.

The suspects were killed in a forest around Uzea near Uromi, Esan North-East local government area of Edo State.

The security team had gone into the bush for a vigorous combing of kidnappers and to recover dangerous firearms.

Escorting them were four suspects Mohammed Amedu, 29, Shaibu Lawal, 30, Nasiru Mohammed, 31 and Mohammed Ibrahim, 28.

The four suspects had earlier been arrested in Ugboha and Ubiaja, and they showed the team their hideout after confession.

Signing the operatives, the suspects allegedly engaged the team in a gun duel and two of the unnamed suspects were killed.

Police recovered one AK-47 rifle, one pump action gun, one Double Barrel, five Live Ammunition of Ak-47, and one AK-47 Magazine.

Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kontongs, said the police in the State will continue with its onslaught on criminal elements in Edo state.
