Police Nab Two Violent POS Armed Robbers

Two suspects alleged to be specialist in attacking and robbing Point of sales outlets in Benin city, Edo state, have been arrested by men of the Edo state police command.

The SUSPECTS were arrested in their hideouts in Benin city after series of alleged armed robbery operations.

The suspects were identified as Douglas Ken and Okechukwu Ohakam.

According to standard Gazette crime correspondent Festus Alenkhe, the suspects belong to a syndicate specializing in attacking and robbing Point of sales shops in Benin city and environs.

SG gathered that the suspects who rode on a motorcycle stormed a point of sales shop along Power line, off Ekewan road in Benin city, Edo state.

The armed men forced their way into the shop, where they robbed both the owner of the shop and the customers.

A cash sum of N430,000, Mobile phones and other personal items were carted away.

According to the owner of the shop, “I was shocked to see two armed men entered my shop and went straight to meet my salesgirl and collected the cash at gunpoint.

“They immediately zoomed off with their motorcycle. I then reported the matter to the commissioner of police in Edo state for his action. I am happy they have been caught now”.

One of the SUSPECTS said, ” Both of us went for the operation, l was the one who went straight to meet the girl and collected the money from her. We shared it equally”.

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kontongs, said the suspects have been terrorizing POS shops in Benin city and environs.

He assured that they would appear in court soon.
