Police Rescued Two Kidnapped Victims In A Forest At The Benin Bypass

Edo State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims at the Lagos road end of the Benin Bypass in EDO state.

The rescued victims were identified as Okeke Emmanuel, 37, and Rilwan Adewale, 36.

The police on patrol in the area got a credible information that some persons have been kidnapped and kept in the forest at the Bypass.

The Police operatives immediately swung into action and rescued two of the victims after a gun duel with the suspected kidnappers.

One of the victims, Adewale Rilwan, sustained a machete injury inflicted by one of the kidnappers in the process.

He is now receiving treatment in the police hospital, Benin city.

A cash sum of N200,000 was recovered from the scene.

The victims were travelling in a Sienna Bus from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to Lagos state when their bus was intercepted.

Three of them were abducted by the daring gunmen on 25 April 2021 around 4 am at the Benin bypass and led into the bush, where they remained until they were rescued.

The Edo State Police Commissioner, CP Phillip Aliyu Ogbadu, urged residents to assist police with helpful information to rid the state of criminals.
