The Nigerian police force has explained why its personnel were at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress APC on Tuesday.
The London Post has earlier on reported that the Nigerian police barricaded the national Secretariat of the APC.
But in a statement by the Force headquarters public relations officer, DCP Frank Mba, the police said it was at the Secretariat to maintain law and order.
“The police have been deployed at the national Secretariat of the APC located at Blantyra Cresent Wuse zone 2, Abuja. The deployment is a proactive move by the force to maintain peace and ensure there is no break down of law and order at the Secretariat.
“The presence of police personnel at the Secretariat is not to seal up the complex as has been reported in some quarters. It is rather to prevent untoward situation within and around the APC National Secretariat.
“Members of the APC as well as the staff of the Secretariat are therefore at liberty to conduct their legitimate businesses, in and around the Secretariat as always.”
