The outspoken Kenyan Kiswahili news presenter Lofty Matambo has left Kenya Television Network (KTN).
During his time at the Nairobi-based media house, Matambo hosted the prime time Kiswahili news bulletin and a talk show dubbed ‘Kimasomaso.’ He also hosted a Christian-centered radio show ‘Shangwe na Matambo on Radio Maisha’.
He announced his exit while hosting the station’s prime time Kiswahili bulletin on Sunday, 18, 2021. Matambo expressed his gratitude to his fans and colleagues for their fantastic support.
He further thanked his employer, the Standard Media Group, for granting him the opportunity to work in the station.
“For the zeal to have a decent society, I brought you Kimasomaso to condemn the evil in the society and uphold the good. They reached out to me, and I answered the call, the call to say goodbye and pursue other things outside The Standard Media Group.
“Thanks to Standard Group PLC for this chance. Thanks to journalists, fellow anchors and editors. Thank you for being patient with me. Let us interact out there and God willing, we shall meet again,” he said.
Before joining KTN, the presenter worked as a content producer/presenter at Media Development in Africa (MEDVA).
Matambo joined the station as a news reporter before becoming a presenter.
Rumors have it that he is on his way to join the Nation Media Group, located in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.
