Mrere was taken into the bush and killed while they left the Hilux by the roadside.

His body has been deposited in the mortuary for further investigation.

Standard Gazette crime correspondent Festus Alenkhe who monitored the development gathered that the armed men who stormed the command’s headquarters at about 9 pm sporadically, forcing securities officials on guards on their heels.

They were said to have burnt many of the offices, including the data used for those awaiting their international passports.

Many persons in Abia state who have been captured for a fresh international passport will have to revisit the command for further clarification and necessary action.

In a separate development, Standard Gazette has learned that the Independent People of Biafra IPOB has, again, warned that the “sit at home” order earlier announced would take effect from Monday, 31 May 2021.

They warned that all shops, markets, Schools, Banks and other businesses must be closed as anyone found outside would be killed.

But the South Eastern Governors have asked residents to disregard the order and go about their normal daily activities.

The insecurity in Eastern Nigeria has taken a dangerous dimension as a former presidential aide, Ahmad Gulak, was shot dead on Sunday morning.

The gunmen, numbered up to six, ambushed the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress on his way to Sam Mbakwe Airport at about 7:20hrs.
