PZ Incident: Edo CP orders arrest of policemen involved

Edo state police commissioner, CP Philip Ogbadu has ordered the arrest of some policemen who were involved in unprofessional conduct at the PZ area on Benin-Sapele road in Benin city.

The team made up of an Inspector and three others who were involved in the unprofessional conduct and incivility against two young men as seen in a viral video have been identified, arrested and subsequently defaulted.

The video showed three police officers, some armed with guns, beating up a young man while forcing him into the car boot.

A statement signed by the Edo state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kontongs said "the Commissioner of police frowns and unreservedly condemns the act and has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident. The outcome of the investigation would be communicated to the Public without reservation".

The police commissioner further assured members of the public of their safety and enjoin them to make it duty-bound to always report unwholesome and unprofessional conduct of personnel of the command to the police high authority.
