Release him or charge him to court - Fani-Kayode's wife tells EFCC
By Ehi Ekhator
The wife of the embattled former Minister of Aviation and the Director Of Media And Publicity at Jonathan/Sambo Presidential Campaign Organisation, Precious Chikwendu has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commissioner (EFCC) to release her husband or charge him to court.
Speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS, the disappointed wife and the mother of Fani-Kayode's son lamented the harsh treatment her son's father is being subjected to.
Precious accused the Buhari led Federal government of trying to silence her husband over fear of his regular attack on the administration.
She narrated how Fani-Kayode was lured to Lagos EFCC custody after he had meant all bail conditions. She accused EFCC of being a tool to silence opposition, adding that only Southerners are in its custody.
She said The continuous detention is wrong. He met bail conditions as required by efcc and yet they detained him, moved him to Lagos saying they have other issues they needed him to answer to. Getting to Lagos, it was on the same campaign funds which he was questioned about in abuja .
"He has been detained for 21 days under harsh conditions after meeting bail terms and they refused to charge him formerly saying he should give them some money and then name everyone whom his directorate paid during the campaign.
"And they keep saying to him they will keep him till he returns money. We filled for human rights and are waiting for it to be heard in court
"The agenda is to silence him and keep him away as much as possible
"EFCC is a tool to silence, an effective tool used for silencing opposition. And they are living up to their mandate because they have no regard for the rule of law they are desperate to meet this mandate of vendetta
"I've been to EFCC Abuja and lagos and there are no northerners in their cells. It's purely for southerners
"So we live in a country with an upright north and corrupt south yeah? This country is headed for division with all that is going on. He speaks his mind on the happenings in the country
"He spoke up during Jonathan's administration, he spoke up during yaradua's so why can't he speak as well now. Bottom line is if they feel their claims on the campaign funds being govt funds is real they should head to the court and let the facts be written in black and white.
"What do they have to hide that they rather keep him with them than charge him? What are they afraid of? Release him or charge him to court."©Standard Gazette, 2021.
