It was a bad day for suspected armed kidnappers whose nefarious activities were thwarted by vigilant residents of the 200-unit area in Lokoja, Kogi State, on Saturday evening.
The kidnappers, who had abducted a young lady from Wada Estate behind the Old Poly Quarters, met strong resistance as they attempted to escape through the 200 Unit junction.
Alerted by the commotion, angry residents quickly mobilised and blocked all exit routes with stones and heavy objects, effectively trapping the criminals.

In a desperate bid to flee with their victim, the suspects drove into the barricade, causing their vehicle to hit a large stone, somersault, and crash. Although no casualties were recorded, the kidnappers managed to escape the scene by brandishing weapons and scaring off onlookers.
They, however, abandoned the abducted lady, who was rescued by residents and rushed to a nearby private hospital for medical attention.
She was said to be highly traumatised but grateful for the timely intervention.
The incident has been reported to the appropriate security agencies, and an investigation is underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
