A reverend sister, Emmanuella Anyanwu who was abducted on Saturday, 4 September 2020 at Isiuwa Hill on Benin-Lagos road has been rescued.
Sister Anyanwu was rescued by the Anti Kidnapping and Cybercrime Unit of the Edo State police command.
Other tactical teams have been in the forest in search of the five persons that were also abducted on Saturday.
In a brief statement, the Edo state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kontongs who confirmed the rescue operation assured that the other four victims still with the kidnappers will be rescued unhurt.
He said the police has mobilized into the forest in that locality.
SP Kontongs called for useful information from members of the public with a view to checking the activities of criminals in Edo state.
The rescued reverend sister who hails from Imo state, Nigeria is serving with a catholic church in Ghana.
She was on her way to Ghana when she was attacked along with other persons at ISIUWA Hill on the Benin-Lagos by the yet to be identified gunmen.
It is not clear if a ransom was paid for her release.
