Robbers and dealer arrested hours after robbing guest house in GRA in Benin
Three suspected robbers have been arrested a few hours after they robbed a hotel in Benin city, Edo State.
Idasaba Michael, 25, Osaro Aghedo and the man Solomon Ihekwoaha who bought the items, were all arrested on 13 June 2022.
It was gathered that Solomon Ihekwoaba, who led the robbery, was a former staff of the guest house in GRA, Benin City resigned about two months ago.
According to the information gathered, the robbers attacked the guest house with a shift gun on 11 June 2022, carting away mobile phones, laptops and money.
They sold the stolen items to a vendor, Solomon Ihekwoaba, on Airport Road in the same metropolis.
The incident was reported to the police, and the phones were tracked to the buyer, who confessed to Idasaba Michael, 25, and Osaro Aghedo's involvement.
The suspects were arrested by Edo State Police Command on suspicion of robbery.
The alleged suspects confessed to attacking the guest house using a shift gun.
One of the suspects, Idasaba Michael, said he robbed his former employer because he was "hungry."
He said, "I was hungry and went to meet my friend to help me with money to eat. He then said we could rob to get money.
"I then advised that we should attack the guest house where l worked. We arrived there at about 11 pm for the operation. We robbed the place and shared the money and the other items".
The police had repeatedly warned that Edo state would not be safe for any criminal element.
