Sani Mohammed Remains A Kidnapping Suspect in Benin, Says Edo Police

Edo state police command says, one Sani Mohammed arrested by men of the Anti Kidnapping And Cybercrime Unit of the Edo state police command remains a suspect under investigation in the State.

His transfer to Lagos would enable the suspect to be questioned concerning other criminal activities he allegedly committed in that State.

Speaking with standard Gazette crime correspondent Festus Alenkhe, the Edo state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kpontongs, dispelled the ongoing social media report, which says Sani Mohammed was transferred to Lagos so that he can be freed from the police facility.

SP kpontongs said men of the Force CID Annex in Lagos has been looking for Sani Mohammed over other criminal offences.

After being informed of his arrest in Edo State, the police requested him for interrogation in Lagos.

He noted that the suspect, who is already in Lagos, would be transferred back to Benin for the crimes he had committed in Benin.

The Edo state police command image-maker advised the public to disregard the report that Sani Mohammed would be released in Lagos.

According to him, “the man was arrested on 1 March 2021 in Benin city for kidnapping and later transferred to Lagos on 8 March 2021”.

The Police PRO posited further that “Anybody that commits a crime, the police do not release such person unduly as there would not be room for compromise “.

SP kpontongs assured the people of Edo state of adequate security in all nooks and crannies of the State as effective police visibility patrols have been put in place.

The Edo State Police command arrested Sani Mohammed for masterminding several abductions in the State.
