Following an increase in instances of the novel Coronavirus variant Omicron, all incoming flights from Nigeria to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been halted.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in Saudi Arabia announced the flight suspension in a circular to all airlines operating in the Kingdom, according to Radio Nigeria.

People who have spent at least 14 days in another country from which they are permitted to enter are exempted, according to the circular.
As a result, all hajj operations for this year have been halted. The reasons for the ban was not stated in the circular, however, there has been concerns about how many Nigerians bypass the process of vaccination at home and the reported cases of vaccine passport buying.
