Recall that the Sultan of Sokoto All. Sa’ad Abubakar had cried out last year on how bandits walk around with AK-47 in various parts of the North.

As a result of the spillover of the tense security situation which is also wearing an ugly head and capable of destroying the entity called Nigeria, the present directive is to totally obliterate unrepentant bandits.

Garba Shehu made this known during an interview with the BBC on Wednesday.

The presidential spokesperson also said the federal government declared Zamfara a no-fly zone following intelligence that arms were being ferried to the bandits with private jets.

Security reports earlier indicated that jets are also used to cart away gold from Zamfara state to Dubai, which, according to him, prompted the ban on mining activities also announced on Tuesday. This is not the first time the government banned mining activities in the state.

“These jets are being used to pick up gold that is being mined in some parts of Zamfara and exported. This is strong because at the moment,” he said.

“There is a Nigerian gold market in Dubai. The government is losing, the people of this country are losing, that’s why it is said that gold mining is banned for those who are not made by the government.”
