On the directive of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, a delegation led by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Gani Audu, visited the scene and hospitals where victims are being treated.
The visit aimed to assess the damage, sympathise with the community, ensure proper care for victims, and develop strategies to prevent future disasters.
Alhaji Gani Audu expressed gratitude that no fatalities occurred and stated, “We now have first-hand information and will report back to the governor so that measures can be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.”
Jerry Idahosa, Head of the Edo State Emergency Management Agency (EdoSEMA), confirmed the details on the affected individuals and property damage.

He assured that the state government would cover medical costs for those still receiving treatment and warned residents against scooping fuel from fallen tankers due to its high flammability.
Hon. Hussein Mustafa Lecky, Chief Whip of the Edo State House of Assembly, also sympathised with his constituents and called for urgent repairs to the Auchi–Okene road, highlighting Jattu Junction’s importance as an entry point to many Etsako communities.
Victims and eyewitnesses described the incident as a harrowing experience.
Officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) conducted an on-site assessment. A detailed report on the incident’s causes is expected to be submitted to Governor Okpebholo next week.
