On Wednesday, the Supreme Court debunked untrue reports that Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, spoke with President Bola Tinubu and the Director General of the Department of State Services about the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal over the phone.
Dr. Festus Akande, the Director of Press and Information in the Supreme Court, issued a statement titled, “No Telephone Conversations between CJN and Anyone Concerning the Presidential Election Petition,” in which he vehemently denied the existence of any such conversation.

He emphasized that these rumours circulating in the social media space are baseless and lack any truth. Such unfounded claims, if allowed to persist, could hinder Nigeria’s progress and erode trust in the judiciary.
