Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga has raised the alarm over the rising cases of relationship-related deaths in the country.
In a statement released on Tuesday, April 20, Odinga said it is disturbing to see many lives lost when relationships go sour.
“It is unfortunate that after winning their partner’s heart, instead of going on to cherish and love them, some suddenly turn physical, and at times horrifically end up killing them,” he said.

The ODM party leader’s sentiments emerge just a day after a 38-year-old man confessed to having killed his girlfriend of four years.
On Monday, April 19, Evans Karani confessed to having killed his 24-year-old girlfriend Catherine Nyokabi on April 14 after claims of unfaithfulness rocked their relationship.
Karani told the police Ms. Nyokabi was cheating on him with another man, and his pleas to her to delete the photo of the alleged new lover from her phone fell on deaf ears, forcing him to plan how to kill her.
On the fateful day, Mr. Karani and Ms. Nyokabi got into the car where they enjoyed some wine, and on realizing that she was drunk, he strangled her with a belt.
He attempted to dump the body in the thicket after killing her, but his car got stuck in the mud.
He then removed the body from the car, mutilated it with a knife before covering it with mud, and fled from the scene.
Detectives traced and arrested him at Nairobi’s Githurai estate.
