Suspected Russian hackers have attacked one of Nigeria's most popular sports betting websites. The hackers have started targeting Nigerian websites, with Bet9ja being the first to fall prey.

This comes after the US announced in recent weeks that it has discreetly removed malware from computer networks around the world in an effort to thwart Russian cyberattacks.

On Wednesday, April 6, Bet9ja revealed that its website was having problems on its verified Twitter account.

However, the company declared on Thursday, April 7, that it had been the target of a cyber-attack. Meanwhile, the company stated that its customers' money is safe.

Bet9ja's attack, according to OluGbenga Odeyemi, the Founder of e86 Limited, is likely to become regular with other organizations if preventive measures are not taken.
