A teacher in Kenya has been confirmed dead after a school bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident along the Meru-Nairobi highway.
The Monday morning incident took place at Kangoro in Tharaka Nithi County, Eastern Kenya.
Tharaka Nithi County Emergency Response Team Coordinator Alex Mugambi said the driver lost control of the bus, and it veered off the road, rolled before landing in a ditch.
The driver and ten students of a local secondary school who had been given a courtesy ride to their school were injured in the accident.
They were rushed to Chuka County Referral Hospital for treatment.
The slippery status of the road due to ongoing rain is to blame for the accident, said Mugambi.
