Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami is in charge of everything relating to people’s data and national identification but he is alleged to having a link with terrorist groups including the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
The Nigerian Twitter community also said the minister cannot be trusted with the data of Nigerians, especially with the ongoing National Identification Number and Subscriber Identity Module integration exercise which he currently supervises.
Even if he’s no longer at the helms of affairs, Nigerians are worried if Mr Pantami would not clone details of perceived enemies to allow extremists have access.
In a viral video recorded about two decades ago which was later confirmed by his lawyer, Michael Numa, the minister was seen engaging the late Boko Haram leader, Mohammed Yusuf, in a public debate.
Pantami, an Islamic scholar, according to Peoples Gazette, also once declared that he was always happy when infidels were massacred.
Many believe such person should have never been a Minister in government circles.
Pantami’s comments were contained in audio recordings of his teachings, when he took extreme positions in support of the brutal exploits of Al Qaeda and Taliban.
The hashtag #PantamiResign has since been trending, although many are of the believe that the President does not have a clue or may just be a passionate sympathizer of the Sheikh turned Minister’s aspect of Islamic doctrine.
