A former commissioner in Edo State and an APC Chieftain, Hon. Charles Idahosa, popularly known as Charlie Tempo, is dead at the age of 72.
Though the cause of the death is still sketchy, the Uhunwonde local government vocal politician was said to have died on Saturday, the 20th of December 2025.
The late Charles Idahosa was last seen on Friday at the table tennis session Benin club, where he showed his generosity to the Steward on duty.
However, condolence messages have started pouring in.
The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpekholo, described the death as a painful one to not only the political class but the state at large.
“I expressed shock at the sudden passing of Hon Idahosa, he was a strong party leader and eminent Edo Indigene, who has given a lot for the growth and development of the state.”
The immediate past governor, Godwin Obaseki, while consoling the family, said Hon. Charles Idahosa was a fearless politician who spoke on issues without any fear or favour.
“Charlie Tempo was someone with whom I shared a personal bond. We attended the same secondary school, worshipped in the same Anglican church, and our families share longstanding ties, which makes this loss even more painful for me.”
The speaker Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, expressed pains that the state has lost a political Colossus.
“Hon Idahosa was a great politician who worked for the growth and development of the state, having held various political offices since the return to democracy in 1999.
